I have watched as others have joined in the fun and I decided to take the plunge this year.

I was paired up with Cece Cormier and can't wait to get started on what she sends. I looked up some of her pieces from her blog. Here are a few things that I learned about her -

Makes macrame jewelry

Lives in the dessert and not desert, lol

Mines gold

Has a green thumb (I don't)

Likes bright colors

Melts glass

Has a wide range of styles when making jewelry

Eats Paleo/Gluten Free (yes!)

I took photos of the bead soup I sent her, but need to figure out how to get the photos off my cell phone and loaded up to the blog.

Can't wait to get started creating!

Blesssings,
Had such a fun day today. I had an interview for a local jewelry company, met for coffee with Kristin Oppold - whom I met on Facebook and then spent the rest of the afternoon browsing through Pier One, Ikea and a thrift store. I didn't really buy anything though. It was so much fun to dress up (I live in jeans) and get out and about. Oh and I have some fun photos to share.
Our first project was to bind a book so that we had a journal to write notes and ideas in. Bookbinding is something that I've always wanted to learn.

It took 2 classes and about 4 hours to complete the book. There are about 16 students, so sharing paper cutters, paper piercers and the rest of the supplies took extra time. It was so much fun and I can't wait to put all the scrapbooking paper that I have to good use and make more books. If I have a chance to finish stitching the cover on tomorrow, I will post a photo.
Wow, does time fly. I'm getting ever so close to graduating from the local technical college and I can't wait. Which brings me to the title of this post, New Dreams and Goals. My goal is to be selling my beads and jewelry by the end of the year (hopefully sooner). Going to school, working and trying to be a wife, mother, etc. it all takes time.

My Fibromyalgia is not cooperating with me in keeping a regular 9-5 job and thus brings me to where I am at today. I need to find a way to bring in an income that works with my bodies schedule. Chronic pain and depression takes its toll on a person, it also some days controls my life. I've taken some MAJOR steps in trying to change my lifestyle. I went gluten free and also started eating Paleo. This seemed to help in the beginning and I will continue to eat this way, due to the fact that I know I feel better. But it hasn't been the miracle cure I was hoping for.

I re-organized my studio and am about 80% done with it. As soon as it's finished, I will post a few photos. It's finally to a place that its workable. This is good since I need to start creating and getting beads, jewelry and components online for sale.

I hope to update this blog 3-4 times a week. Thought I'd say that so it would remind me when I read back. It's another way to get my work out there for people to see.

Blessings,
My trip will be combined with some sightseeing and spending some quality time with my mom and a couple good friends. There is lots of exciting things happening in the near future. I will be also selling at my 1st juried art show and am excited and a bit nervous as it is coming way too fast.

Working on getting as much inventory made as I can. I don't have a ton of spare time between work and school. My life is a bit too busy right now and hopefully that will change soon.
Trying to continue with my new commitment to blog. I do enjoy writing, so that isn't an issue at all. Just trying to get more things in my life in order so that I can get busy with making beads and jewelry.

My day/night job keeps me busy. I do overnight care (24 hours), generally 2-3 days in a row for the elderly. It really is a fulfilling job and I enjoy it. I also work part time at a local retail department store chain, so I am a bit busy. I'm slowly cutting back on my part time job so that I can focus on my jewelry. Especially with being accepted into my first art show. Add to that the 12 credits of college I tried to take so that I could graduate this spring. I gave it a good try, but didn't quite make it. Will have one class left this fall to take and then I should be able to get my Jewelry Design and Repair Certificate!!!!

So this afternoon I spent doing some research on Victorian dresses. I found some great photos and also a couple places that sell patterns that could/would work. Going to make a trip to Joann's Etc before I make a final selection on an outfit.

I'm still trying to figure out the new blog and adding photos and hopefully will get that figured out soon. I'd like to start adding photos of items that I'm working on or photos of things that I'm blogging about. Hopefully soon.

Blessings,
DebDeb Behrendshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10843405760011772540noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2352292375794712701.post-22440216597254925782011-05-22T22:48:00.000-05:002011-05-22T22:48:26.872-05:00I'm so EXCITED!!!!First off, I'm on a roll with blogging. Two days in a row, weeee. Lots going on here in Minnesota. Severe storm season is upon us and we had a doozy come through last night and again this afternoon. Tornado touched down near Minneapolis and the radio is saying lots of damage. So far so good for my family and friends. No reports of damage by them.

Now onto exciting but also a little anxiety filled news. So first the not so exciting news that is causing a little bit of anxiety. I wrote my boss a letter at my part time job that I wanted to cut back to one shift a week and if that wasn't an option, today would be my 2 week notice. Eeeeek. I just can't continue with the schedule I have and promote my business. Not enough time in the day.

The exciting news is way cool. I was accepted into my first REAL show as an artist at the Christmas at the Courthouse, in Stillwater, MN. I had to be selected by the committee that puts the show on as a fundraiser to maintain the old courthouse building. I'm beyond excited. Now to get busy making inventory and putting together some sort of Victorian costume. Yes, you read that, I have to be dressed in something that looks Victorian. This should be interesting.

I was hoping to get some help from a friend and post a few photos along with my message above. Maybe tomorrow, so I thought I'd share my excitement without photos.

Have a great week!
Blessings,
I really am trying to get my jewelry and beads out there and one way to do that is to blog. The problem is I really want to have a uniform look to everything that I promote, sort of like branding myself. It will be a work in progress. Now that I have this new blog, I should be able to customize it and keep with my consistency of look. Whew.

Continue to check back and see what I'm working on!

Have a great weekend!
